Expert Guide Hub
Part of our Emergency Dental Care comprehensive series.
Dental emergencies do not wait for convenient times. A cracked tooth on a Friday night, a knocked-out tooth during a sports game, or sudden swelling that makes it hard to breathe — these situations demand fast, professional care. At AZ Dental Club, we reserve same-day emergency slots at all three of our Phoenix metro locations.
What Counts as a Dental Emergency?
Not every toothache requires immediate attention, but some symptoms should never be ignored:
Seek Emergency Care Immediately If You Have:
- Severe, unrelenting tooth pain — especially with swelling or fever
- A knocked-out (avulsed) tooth — time is critical; the tooth has the best chance of survival within 60 minutes
- A cracked or broken tooth — especially if the nerve is exposed
- Abscess or pus — signs of a serious infection that can spread
- Uncontrolled bleeding — after an injury or extraction
- Jaw injury or suspected fracture — go to the ER first, then follow up with a dentist
What to Do in Common Dental Emergencies
Knocked-Out Tooth
- Handle the tooth by the crown, not the root
- Rinse gently with water if dirty — do not scrub
- If possible, place it back in the socket and hold it in place
- If not, keep it in milk or saliva until you reach our office
- Call AZ Dental Club immediately — time is critical
Severe Toothache
Rinse with warm salt water, floss gently to remove trapped debris, and apply a cold compress to the cheek for swelling. Do not place aspirin directly on the gum — it can cause chemical burns. Call us for a same-day appointment.
Cracked Tooth
Rinse your mouth with warm water and save any broken pieces if possible. Apply gauze if there is bleeding and a cold compress for swelling. Avoid chewing on that side and contact us right away.
Same-Day Emergency Appointments
AZ Dental Club offers emergency dental care at all three locations:
- Phoenix (Main Office): 4245 N 19th Ave — (602) 650-1700
- Tempe: 1823 N Scottsdale Rd — (480) 970-6677
- Glendale: 5930 W Greenway Rd #14A — (602) 978-4621
When you call, let us know it is an emergency. We prioritize pain, infection, and trauma cases and will do everything we can to see you the same day.
Do Not Wait — Infections Spread
A dental infection left untreated can spread to the jaw, neck, and even bloodstream. If you have facial swelling, fever, or difficulty swallowing alongside tooth pain, treat it as an emergency. Our team provides prompt diagnosis, antibiotics when needed, and definitive treatment to eliminate the source of infection.
After-Hours and Weekend Guidance
If you experience a dental emergency outside our business hours and the situation is life-threatening — difficulty breathing, severe facial trauma, or uncontrolled bleeding — go to the nearest emergency room immediately. For urgent but non-life-threatening dental issues, call our office first thing the next business day and we will fit you in.
Stay Prepared
Save our phone numbers in your contacts today. Dental emergencies are stressful enough without scrambling to find a number. AZ Dental Club is your partner in urgent dental care across the Phoenix metro area.
